About CES

The Centre for European Studies is a research institution of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Széchenyi István University. The Centre has been established within a project supported by the PHARE Programme of the European Union in 1998. Until 2004, the Centre was a focal point of EU-related teaching activity in Győr and its major objective was to integrate EU law subjects into the curriculum of the Faculty and to promote the idea of the European integration to a wider audience. After the accession of Hungary to the European Union, the Centre has considerably shifted its objectives to improve its research capacity in the areas of EU law and also continues to provide a focus for graduate training. The current activity of the Centre covers the following three main objectives:

 Coordinating and teaching EU law modules to graduate students;

 Obtaining external funding for research projects;

 Organising workshops, conferences.
